About this editorial team

Rachid Mermans has worked the Belgian gambling beat since 2016 and puts every operator to the test with an emphasis on licences. Active from Brussel.

How we test. testing starts with a real signup, deposit via Bancontact, request a withdrawal and time every step. We check the operator against the Gaming Commission's white and black lists and read the bonus terms line by line. Anything that could not be checked is cut at the final edit.

The outbound links earn us a fee; what we write is independent of that fee. A missing licence is never left unsaid.

Weekly limit, age bar and exclusion

The Belgian framework around player protection is more strictly than most of its neighbours and it is built that way on purpose. Every licensed site applies a default deposit limit of €200 per week.

Self-exclusion in Belgium is handled centrally, through EPIS: one registration excludes you at once from every licensed operator, online and on-site. The register is not public. The bar has stood at 21 since 1 September 2024, lottery aside; only the National Lottery stays at 18. A trial account falls under it too.
